Your MH-CET application is placed on hold when the NRI or CIWGC Certificate is missing or rejected at document verification. To resume processing, upload a valid certificate issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over your foreign address, or email student@mahacet.org with your application ID and a status update.
If your MH-CET International Admissions application is "on hold" for a missing CIWGC or NRI Certificate, the portal has paused you at the document verification stage. The certificate — issued only by the Indian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence — is a mandatory document for both categories. Once uploaded, verification resumes automatically.
Why is the Application on Hold?
The NRI Certificate is a mandatory document for NRI and CIWGC candidates. Without it, your application cannot move to the verification stage, and seat allotment cannot proceed.
How to Resolve This
- Contact the Indian Embassy or Consulate: Approach the nearest Indian diplomatic mission in your country of residence to obtain the NRI Certificate.
- Submit the required documents: Provide the parent's or Legal Guardian's employment proof, residence proof, and passport copies as requested by the embassy.
- Upload to the portal: Once you receive the certificate from the Indian Embassy or Consulate, upload it to your MH-CET application dashboard immediately.
- Await verification: After upload, the CET Cell will re-verify your documents and move your application out of the hold state.
Find Your Nearest Embassy

- Embassy processing times vary by country — plan your request well ahead of admission deadlines.
- Ensure the certificate is properly issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate.
- Self-declarations or letters from a relative (uncle, aunt, grandparent) cannot replace the official NRI Certificate.
- Only Parents (Father or Mother) or a court-appointed Legal Guardian under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890 can apply on the student's behalf.
